What is a pressure point?
Simply put it’s the stimulation of nerves and the body’s reactions to that stimulation.
The key is how to activate the nerves and then to utilize this activation in a combat scenario.
Do not think that pressure points by themselves is the answer and that you do not have to practice your art anymore this is not the case. It all depends on the delivery system you have available that makes pressure points work. Bullets will kill you when fired from a gun but without the gun they are just bullets you could throw them but it might not have the same effect.
So now that we understand that here are the things you need to study.
1. You need to stretch the nerves or pinch them against a bone to get a reaction.
2. Use the correct angle and direction to accomplish this stretching or pinching.
3. Study the weak spots on the body e.g. where nerves come to the surface and are more exposed and prone for striking or grappling.
4. Study the motor skills needed to achieve these things e.g. the heavy hand method with a stretch the energy transfer and correct use of the hand and fist.

A simple explanation is on the DVD kyusho stage 1 it is available from the shop page on this site.
What Pressure Points are not?
They are not magic, you do not need to put your tongue anywhere or lift any toe up, you do not have to remember any cycles, colours , time of day, elements, sounds, emotions, yin , yang which way the wind is blowing or any other non practical nonsense it is not required. I have knocked out people by just stretching the nerves and nothing else.
Pressure points are not vital points; vital points are the eyes, throat, groin, etc a poke in the eye or a kick in the groin is going to hurt you do not need to know pressure points for these things.
A warning foot note
Please study pressure points with care, find an instructor who does not just keep knocking you out for the sake of his own ego, but understands how to teach them with a view to helping you learn in a safe environment in order for you to be able to protect yourself should the need arise and making sure you are fully restored with energy after each session.
